Jamal Bryant says Umma Do Me

If you don't like politics in the pulpit then you probably don't wanna watch this clip. Personally I prefer to hear it from the pulpit with a scriptural balance.

Why Me

Good to see the growth in CUBE. True OG status right here fam. This reminds me of the brothers that would come home from Cook County Jail or the bums that would see us wildin' out and just pull us to the side like: "Man you got a chance to make it. You in school doing ya thang. Don't get caught up in no BS. Keep ya head on straight or I'ma tell ya Mama. You know I used to go to school with your uncle Moochie." I mean how could Cube not mature @ 40+ right? The crazy thing is there are some rappers his age still rapping about slanging dope outta M***y Projects. LOL! I'm just saying...

The weather doesn't change much in the ATL until late November, no matter how much I want to rock some winter heat. Nonetheless, here’s a look at the upcoming FG Varsity Letter Jacket.
The jacket has the classic duck logo and “FG” lettering on the front, while the back displays the cursive logo… all chenille, all correct.

For Real McCain?

Honestly Sir, this is the best choice for a running mate you could come up with? Should something happen to you I'm supposed to feel comfortable with this lady assuming Commander in Chief? She doesn't know ANYTHING about you, this country, our economy or foreign policy. I have yet to see an interview where she ANSWERS a question!!! I am disappointed in you Sir! As a war veteran who touts his love for this country I would expect you to put the needs of your beloved country first and not your own political ambition. I cannot do 12 years of BUSH!

Watch CBS Videos Online

David Letterman on McCain canceling the debate:

"You don't suspend your campaign. This doesn't smell right. This isn't the way a tested hero behaves. I think someone's putting something in his metamucil. He can't run the campaign because the economy is cratering? Fine, put in your second string quarterback, Sara Palin. Where is she? What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"

THE CHOP CHOP IN STORES NOW!!!

WaMu vs Bank of America

Isha is a fountain of knowledge and wisdom. Her company ePic Measures is the truth

Apparently, the plans I was advised about the morning of 9/18 are faltering more so becasue of pressure from stakeholders to sell than attempts to weather the storm:

www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-wamu18-2008sep18,0,1270305.story

Best option is for consumers to rally together and put money into the banks who really have a heart for consumers more than corporate pockets. That's how the housing market got out of hand--corporations lost sight of the consumer. They became greedy and pushed the market over the edge.

WaMu is one of those banks that really is for making things inexpensive for the customer (business and personal banking) and they should remain open for business. If they must be purchased, I'm hoping Wells Fargo can manage the deal plus leave consumer services in tact. When Chase bought out Bank One, everything went to pot. Citibank is not a consumer friendly insitute either.

www.wamufreechecking.com/FreeChecking/index.html?appType=FC&AffiliateID=drivepm&CreativeID=WFC

On the opposite end of the spectrum, leery of bigger banks who get bigger. That's not a healthy sign at all. See Bank of America article below.

Collier is also a former BofA loan officer who now works at Bank of the West. She said the water-cooler talk in banking circles these days centers on how consolidation will continue until there are only three or four major banks left.BofA will be one of them, Collier said. So will Citibank. 'We're just not sure who will be the other two,' she said.

Plan B Part II $

More wisdom from Isha

"P.S. You may want to take time this week to find a "safe bank" which is one that did not invest heavily in housing-backed securities and/or has a high cash reserve.

These days, it's taking two business days or more to move money around. Depending on what you need to do, signed original documents are needed and even a notary prolonging the movement of money to 10 business days or more.

Some banking alternatives to research include: ING Direct, Washington Mutual, USAA Federal Reserve Bank, and city, state or federal credit unions (except Pentagon Federal). Also, diversify your assets so if money doesn't convert as fast as you need, you have a buffer. Do what it takes to get your credit status up to par to include paying off high interest debt.

Probably also want to call or e-mail your Congress person and address the $700 Billion Financial Bailout the President is looking to get approved (see link below).
------
[This] plan would boost the public debt limit, now $10.6 trillion, to $11.3 trillion while giving the Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson complete control and limited accountability as to how the money is spent.

The truth of the matter is that there are only two legitimate ways to make money in any economy: increase income or assets or decrease liabilities and expenses. This plan leans towards increasing income but does not take into consideration how top-heavy we are on expenses and liabilities w/little to no assets to support. We're still at war, natural disasters have set cities and states back in terms of revenue, and major banks are in debt to their ears. The number of unemployed is climbing toward 10 million as companies seek to cut costs as well. All it takes is a series of natural disasters to hit or worse, a war to occur to further put the U.S. in the red.

Taking $700 Billion to bailout banks through a series of "creative" sales of fake assets is equivalent to emptying your savings account and going to Las Vegas or taking your last paycheck and playing Lotto in every state with a high jackpot. Return on investment is not guaranteed... So guess what, you better have a Plan B!"

Stay in the know.

Plan B

I got an email from my homegirl Isha and thought I'd share the contents with my family:

"Hello All,

Given some of the things that have already occurred from this week back to the last two months, it's encouraged that you establish a PLAN B for you and your family to follow during emergencies.

Do check to see what your state has in place via Ready America: http://www.ready.gov/america/index.html or The Dept. of Homeland Security http://www.dhs.gov/xprepresp/

The financial crisis on Wall Street is hardly the tipping point and neither are the series of storms, tragedy, wars, and natural disasters in diverse places. If you've been following or know Biblical prophecy, you know what time it is by watching what happens with and around the Nation of Israel (They celebrate a very significant anniversary this year).

The coming election is something to be extremely prayerful about. Politics and fanfare aside, what’s to come in the next two to four months will ripple across the globe. Nations to watch in the days ahead: Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Russia, Turkey, Sudan, Israel, Great Britian, and the U.S.

Stay in faith and keep those candles burning ya’ll.

Love Is In Need...

107_9092.JPG
So Saturday morn I was headed to work and while waiting for my ride over by Garnett train station I caught this line. There was also a gentleman who at first listen appeared to be yelling at those in the lineup. I drew closer and had Sunday Morning Service early. The lineup was for a local church (I believe) feeding the homeless & hungry. The man that I thought was yelling was actually preaching (his delivery and booming voice was reminiscent of Martin Luther King Jr.)
107_9091.JPG
A few observations:

1. ChicaGOrilla what have you done recently to impact your world sir?

2. Ayo that dude dressed fresh as all get out, why is he lined up to eat w/ the homeless

3. Why didn't that brother take his hat off when asked to so the reverend could bless the food?

4. What type of impact and impression would that church have made on these people if they fed the people first and preached second?

5. What if they didn't preach at all and just fed the people and let them know ALMIGHTY GOD loves them?

6. What if they undergirded their efforts in feeding these men fish with teaching them how to fish?

By no means am I hating on their efforts. I sincerely applaud them and hope to successfully get all of us together at the next Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry Event. I really need to get back on my square.

Read A Book

The Adventures of Johnny Bunko is America’s first business book in manga and the last career guide you’ll ever need.

The book, which you can read in an hour, tells the story of Johnny Bunko, a beleaguered Everyman toiling away at the Boggs Corp.

One night Johnny meets Diana, a magical and butt-kicking adviser who teaches Johnny -- and you -- the six lessons of satisfying, productive careers:

1. There is no plan.
2. Think strengths, not weaknesses
3. It’s not about you.
4. Persistence trumps talent.
5. Make excellent mistakes
6. Leave an imprint.

Girls Rock Too

My homie KAOS did a joint saluting the ladies. It's important to me that my daughter knows she's my princess, a daughter of the MOST HIGH GOD, an heiress and not some nappy headed h*e!

Sunday Morning Service: Rick Warren

Living a life of purpose
Pastor, philanthropist and author Rick Warren reflects on how the success of his book "The Purpose-Driven Life" triggered his own crisis of purpose. What should he do with this unanticipated wealth and attention? Warren uses his own story to explain the central tenet of his teaching: that the antidote to spiritual emptiness is recognizing what we have been given -- wealth, creativity, talent -- and using those gifts to make the world a better place.

Just got an email on this ISC Competition & wanted to make sure I put y'all on this...

"With less than six weeks left to enter the 2008 International Songwriting Competition (ISC), I wanted to give you an update (if you weren't already aware) on this year's prestigious judging panel, specifically pertaining to our Gospel/Christian category.

Each year ISC is privileged to assemble an outstanding judging panel, and the 2008 competition is no exception. Michael W. Smith, Jeremy Camp, Natalie Grant, and Matt Thiessen (Relient K), among others, have all signed on as ISC judges; the panel consists of highly respected recording artists and some of the most influential executives in the music industry. See below for a complete list of judges.

Reaching The Right People

(Spotted @ Seth Godin's Blog - * How could we use this in the GOSPEL MUSIC community?)

Here's a great idea.

What if your new rock group appeals to fans of the B52s? Or if your new book is just perfect for people who like Brad Meltzer? If you have a CD or a book or an idea that will appeal to a certain psychographic, it might not be so easy to reach just those people.

Dave came up with a super idea: go buy a bunch of B52s CDs. Then list them (brand new!) for sale on Amazon and eBay. Price them ridiculously low, like a dollar. The only people who are going to buy a copy are focused fans. Then, when you ship out the CD, include your new CD in the box as well. You've reached exactly the right people (purchasers! who spent money! who are fans!) at exactly the right moment. Why not include two or three in the box? Fans know fans, and they like spreading the good stuff around.

What a shame that Amazon hasn't figured out how to provide this as a useful service. Amazon knows who buys a lot, they know who reviews a lot... why not ask those people if they want a free prize now and then? An influential person would earn the right to a huge number of free samples. Radio DJs used to get them... but now, of course, it's us that are the DJs...
(It doesn't work so well for used cars, of course.)

This works for other fields as well. If you have a massage service that is the perfect complement to customers of a personal training service down the street, why not give that trainer a dozen intro gift certificates she can use to thank her best customers?

MJ points out that the few mainstream publishers that promote their books spend $10,000 or more on ads that don't work. Putting a book into the hands of 1,000 perfect fans may be a far smarter investment.

Thinking small, again. It tends to work. Along those lines, Rich has a neat promo going on.

You are not a thug! You were raised in the suburbs in a two parent home. You got good grades in school. Even made the honor roll. Could've went to college but you wanted to test the streets. That life seemed way more exciting then becoming a law abiding citizen. Tupac really makes that "Thug Life" seem so fresh! You were raised in Hawkinsville and decided to hit the ATL to make a name for yourself. Your first arrest came in Cobb County on a traffic violation. You used to go to church regularly because Moms made you but once you got your weight up you decided to have YOUR OWN relationship with GOD. You once had a respectable well paying job as a security officer now you sagging your pants to your thighs and wear white tee shirts.
